Hearts filled with laughter
merriment is what were after.
In celebration of a new year
we all toast a cheer.
Turning over a new leaf
a fresh start is our belief.
All our regrets were stopping
as the new years ball starts dropping.
Singing the chorus to auld lang syne
we get drunk out of our minds.
As we are so filled with bliss
we start the new year with a kiss.
As december comes to an end
my greetings to you I will send.
To all of you I hold so dear
have a very Happy New Year!

Whispers in the Night
You have watched her grow old
as her hand you now hold.
Her forehead you kiss
as she enters hospice.
Time seems to slow
she is scared you know.
You just can't concieve
that this world she must leave.
You both say a prayer
as into uncertainty you stare.
You want her to stay
but she keeps slipping away.
Theres whispers in her ear
that God is very near.
She follows his light
as she passes into the night.
You shed your tears
for you held her so dear.
She loved you like no other
so sad the passing of a mother.

Lost in the Wash
I wake from a slumber deep
out of my bed I slowly creep.
Endless dreams are turned away
in my mind is where they'll stay.
Burning off the nites disguise
a lonely sun begins to rise.
In it's golden silhouette
one might think you could forget.
In the shower water pelts down
in my anguish I begin to drown.
Somethings won't wash away
for some help I have to pray.
Don't really know what I'm looking for
even on sunny days life can be a chore.
Today it seems to be perfectly clear
although I know grey skies are near.
Daylight is fleeting in winters grip
skies start to darken as time just slips.
Spurned by love hurts deep inside
that is one thing night time can't hide.

Sea of Dreams
Fact or fiction
writing is my addiction.
Help in hard times
I find in these rhymes.
Strange or absurd
I put it down in words.
Nothing better on earth
than giving a poem it's birth.
Large or small
I print them all.
When an idea grows
I let them show.
Imagined or real
I compose what I feel
giving me strenght
at days lenght.
In a sea of dreams
I'm set adrift
my poetry it seems
is a gift.

Black and White
As I read today's headlines
people must be losing thier minds.
The world it seems so confused
nothing in this paper leaves me amused.
Someone always getting shot or stabbed
the child abuser makes me mad.
An earthquakes big death toll
chrismas presents they were stole.
Politicians they rant and rave
another drunk driver meets his grave.
In the river they find a corpse
now I read there's drugs in sports.
No matter what page you turn
death,devestation or something burned.
Sometimes it makes me vomit
thank God for the comics.
Robbing banks and convience stores
I don't want to read no more.
I can see in black and white
why I can't get to sleep at night.

Christmas Day
A reason to smile
the season to give
travel a snowey mile
to where grandma lives.
Music is played
eggnog and rum
our day is made
Santa's work is done.
Stockings are filled
presents under the tree
kids are thrilled
as their names they see.
Wrappings they tear
ribbons and bows
no one has a care
as the anticipation grows.
Children are surprised
at whats inside
no longer disguised
the joy they can't hide.
Santa and his sleigh
brought all this treasure
kids are at play
their love you can't measure.
Then I look upon the tree
at the cross which it is adorned
the true meaning is revealed to me
Christ our lord he is born.

Casino Queen
She is a casino queen
pockets full of green
she likes to sprnd all day
at the slots that she plays.
With her ruby red lips
and a bag of chips
she lives in a world of dreams
making her fortune so it seems.
What could be the harm
as she pulls upon the arm?
But much to her dismay
the damn machine won't pay.
She does not really care
her life is but a dare.
She finds it such a treat
she won't give in to defeat.
